Wood Air Conditioning & Plumbing, a leading commercial HVAC and plumbing contractor, is hiring experienced Structural Welders to join our traveling overnight construction crew supporting large-scale retrofit and new construction projects inside major commercial retail facilities.

What You’ll Do

Structural Welding

• Weld structural steel components using SMAW (Stick) and FCAW (Flux-Core)
• Perform welds in vertical, overhead, and flat positions following AWS D1.1 standards
  
  

Blueprint Interpretation

• Read and interpret structural blueprints, shop drawings, and installation plans
  
  

Fit-Up & Assembly

• Align and position steel components using hoists, clamps, jacks, and tack welding
  
  

Quality Control

• Inspect welds to ensure strength, safety, and compliance with project specifications
• Repair or correct weld defects when necessary
  
  

Equipment Operation

• Operate cutting torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and welding machines
• Maintain welding equipment and tools
  
  

Safety

• Follow strict OSHA and company safety procedures
• Work safely in elevated positions, confined spaces, and active construction environments
  
  

Experience

What We’re Looking For

• 2 years of structural welding experience in commercial construction or heavy industrial work
  
  

Welding Skills

• Strong proficiency with Stick (SMAW)
• Experience with Flux-Core (FCAW) or MIG (GMAW) preferred
  
  

Certifications

• AWS D1.1 certification preferred (company will assist with certification if needed)
  
  

Travel Availability

• Willingness to travel for projects and work overnight shifts
  
  

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Welding school or trade program a plus
