Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role for a Dance Teacher located in Lakeland, FL. We are seeking an energetic, creative, and passionate Dance Enrichment Teacher to lead engaging afternoon dance sessions for our summer camp scholars. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with children and understands the power of movement, music, and expression in building confidence and joy.
The Dance Teacher will design and facilitate fun, age-appropriate dance experiences that encourage creativity, coordination, and self-expression while contributing to a positive and high-energy camp environment.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Engagement
- Plan and lead dynamic, engaging dance sessions for students in grades K–5
- Teach a variety of dance styles (e.g., hip-hop, creative movement, jazz, etc.) in a fun and accessible way
- Create a supportive environment where all students feel confident to participate and express themselves
- Encourage creativity, movement, rhythm, and performance skills
Program Integration
- Align dance activities with weekly camp themes when possible (identity, leadership, creativity, etc.)
- Incorporate music, storytelling, and movement to enhance the overall camp experience
- Collaborate with camp staff to create a cohesive and engaging daily schedule
Classroom Culture & Management
- Maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive environment for all scholars
- Use positive behavior strategies to manage groups effectively
- Actively engage with students and model enthusiasm and participation
Performance & Showcase
- Prepare students for an end-of-camp
- Celebrate student growth, creativity, and confidence through performance opportunities
Qualifications
- Experience teaching dance to children (camp, studio, school, or community programs)
- Proficient in Dance, Dance Instruction, and Dance Education
- Strong background in dance and movement (formal or informal training)
- Ability to create fun, engaging, and age-appropriate lessons
- Passion for working with children and creating positive learning experiences
- Strong classroom management and group facilitation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, energetic, and team-oriented
- Proficient in Dance, Dance Instruction, and Dance Education
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Education, Performing Arts, or a related field is desirable but not required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary-aged students (K–5)
- Background in multiple dance styles
- Experience in camps, enrichment programs, or youth development settings
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Schedule & Compensation
- Position Type: Part-Time, Seasonal (Summer 2026)
- Dates: June 1 – July 31, 2026 (Mondays-Thursdays)
- Schedule Options:12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
- 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM (extended shift available)
- Pay Range: $16–$18/hour (based on experience)
