Operations Manager

Wonder Puppy (WP) is a puppy parenting center based in Northwest Portland that specializes in dogs under the age of 2. Through our holistic puppy school and supply store, we bring together every ingredient you’ll need to raise a good dog—all in a safe, supportive learning environment. We work with dogs and their people directly to create good relationships between people and their puppies. Our small team consists of our talented trainers and one operations manager.

The Operations Manager facilitates smooth operations through:

I. Mastery of Subject Matter

• Have a deep understanding of our mission and values
• Be able to coach clients through curriculum questions and share the recommended wonder path based on dog’s age and disposition
• Represent the Wonder Puppy spirit through positive and compassionate communication with staff and clients

II. Client Support

• Correspond with clients via email and phone calls
• Enroll clients in classes and process service requests
• Support clients through reschedule/cancelation requests, process refunds and account credits as needed

III. Staff Support

• Work in conjunction with owner/Trainer Manager to ensure daily activities run smoothly
• Support trainers with admin, scheduling, and other miscellaneous needs
• Prepare for, attend, and assist in running monthly employee meetings with training manager
• Assist bookkeeper in processing payroll
• Keep track of employee PTO and leave requests

IV. Operations

• Perform vaccination checks
• Maintain retail inventory and display space
• Place orders for retail, office supplies, training supplies, etc.
• Receive mail and deliveries
• Coordinate with bookkeeper to pay bills
• Maintain organizational systems in office and closet
• Ensure sheets, toys, blankets and cleaning cloths are laundered regularly
• Coordinate office repairs/servicing as needed

V. Scheduling

• Verify and arrange class schedules with trainers and owner/Training Manager
• Upload class schedules and update website

• Contribute to planning and company development with a spirit of innovation and in alignment with our mission, vision and values
• Perform professional responsibilities in accordance with pertinent goals, missions, and plans of the organization and program.
