What are the responsibilities and job description for the ELA Teacher position at Wonder Learning Center?
Calling All Passionate Middle and High School Teachers – Come Teach the Way You Always Dreamed Of
Are you an experienced middle or high school teacher who loves working with students—but feels boxed in by standardized tests, rigid curriculum, and endless paperwork? Do you miss those lightbulb moments—when students connect the dots, dive down rabbit holes, and ask “what if…”? Are you craving real, authentic connection with your students?
If that resonates, we want to meet you.
About Us
We’re a new, small, student-centered microschool for middle and high-schoolers. Our learners are bright, curious, creative, and often neurodivergent (ADHD, dyslexia, ASD, anxiety, etc.). They're also gifted - academically, intellecturally, creativitily, and they crave challenge, connection, and a safe space to be themselves.
Our educational model ditches the traditional playbook. We don’t give busywork, and we don’t teach to the test. Instead, we create rigorous, meaningful learning experiences rooted in curiosity, relationships, and joy. We integrate field studies, project-based learning, and social-emotional development into everything we do. And we laugh—a lot.
We are Wonder Learning Center from South Carolina and relocated our microschool to North Carolina this Fall. While we've brought a couple of families/teachers and our certified therapy dog with us, we are starting with new teachers, new students, and a new space in Apex. This is your opportunity to get in on the ground floor and build with us as we expand and grow! We're gearing up for 20-25 students this year and hope to (slowly and intentionally) grow to a max of 50 students in the next 3-5 years.
