What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advocate position at Women’s Resource Center?
Supervisor: Shelter Director
Objective: To carry out the mission of Women’s Resource Center by assisting victims/survivors with resources, shelter needs and services
FTE: part-time
- Know, understand, and support the mission of the Women’s Resource Center
- A commitment to establishing a warm, welcoming and trauma informed space for all Domestic Violence Victims.
- Implement Core values, respect, diversity & inclusion, leadership and accountability, integrity and client support for all domestic violence victims.
- Provide Crisis intervention and resources to victims/ Survivors of Domestic Violence
- Ensure the crisis line is answered
- Ensure shelter building is secure, by providing hourly house checks, assuring all entry/exits are secure, cameras are checked regularly
- Provide room checks once per shift
- Ensure shelter rules are being followed
- Assist individuals with community resources, providing referrals and information
- Ensure all paperwork is complete including intakes, assessments, and all info is entered into the osnium database
- Record all contacts no matter how small into the appropriate binder
- Safety plan with all residents
- Assure communication and services are provided to all residents, having contact with each person once a shift
- Ensure cupboards are stocked, pantry is to code, all food is off the floor and properly put away
- Complete any tasks assigned by supervisor
- Ensure shelter is staying clean by keeping the advocate area swept and dusted, paperwork put away and organized, and chores are being completed
- Ensure all donations taken in on your shift are washed, dried on high heat and put away in the proper location
