Triage Nurse

Women’s Health Connecticut is currently seeking a Triage Nurse for one of our fast paced OB/GYN practices, Women's Comprehensive Health Care!

Position: Triage Nurse
Location: Women's Comprehensive Health Care
Address: 330 Western Blvd. Glastonbury, CT 06033 (flexibility to work out of Avon office)
Employment: Full-time, 40 hrs
Schedule: Monday- Friday

In this role, you will deliver the highest quality patient care. Role will be responsible to educate, advise and provide clinical support via phone to obstetric and gynecologic patients to triage immediate treatment needs according to the seriousness of the condition.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serves as a representative of the organization, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions.
• Respond via phone to all patient issues routed to Triage Nurse making notations in patient chart utilizing our electronic medical record software.
• Ability to work with multiple physicians in response to patient’s medical treatments.
• Responsible to successfully complete tasks assigned by any provider, i.e. calling patients, explaining test/lab results, contacting pharmacies for patient medication questions/refills, pre-authorizations, letters for patients, etc.
• Discuss with physicians and e-prescribe medication, discuss treatments, and advise patient of medical treatments in accordance with internal protocols.
• Follow internal protocols regarding departmental communications.
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Adhere to corporate compliance program guidelines and comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
• Maintain and respect the confidentiality of PHI (Protected Health Information) in accordance with, corporate policy and all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) mandates. Candidate will have access to PHI based on the HIPAA minimum necessary standards.
• Other duties as assigned by management

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• 3- 5 years of Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse, required.
• Valid RN or LPN licensing, required.
• 1- 2 years of OB/GYN experience or 3 years clinical experience in an office or hospital setting
• Infertility/Fertility/Contraception experience a plus
• Computer skills evidenced by proficiency and /or training with applicable software
• Ability to set priorities
• Good written and verbal communication skills
