GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Bone Densitometry Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic radiological bone densitometry procedures in a timely manner. The Bone Densitometry Technologist performs procedures according to physician’s orders
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares and sets up necessary supplies and equipment for scheduled procedure.
2. Operates all appropriate clinical equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
3. Performs all bone densitometry procedures according to training and protocols.
4. Accurately comprehends and interprets orders and directions.
5. Positions patient to obtain the optimal scan, while ensuring maximum radiation protection for the patient and the technician
6. Ensure that the equipment is properly calibrated and maintained for optimal performance
7. Assist in explaining the procedure to patients and addressing their queries or concerns.
8. Getting Heights and Weights as needed.
9. Review and evaluate images for clarity and diagnostic quality.
10. Maintain detailed patient records and imaging logs
11. Ensure proper sterilization and cleanliness of imaging equipment and work areas.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Possesses time management skills, along with the ability to multitask in a fast pace environment.
2. Creates and introduces new ideas to improve existing programs, policies and/or procedures.
3. Communicates effectively and tactfully with others within the front office department, other departments, patients and the public. Able to effectively listen, understand and respond to the needs of others. Projects a friendly, respectful and professional demeanor at all times.
4. Shows good moral character, pleasing personality and good personal hygiene.
5. Possesses a caring, courteous, and sensitive attitude towards everyone (patients and co-workers)
6. Interacts with patients in a tactful, patient and kind manner.
7. As a Bone Densitometry Technician, your primary responsibility will be to operate bone density machines to provide accurate and reliable bone density scans
8. Ability to lift and position patients as needed
9. Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
10. Other Duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
2. Current State of Ohio certification as an ARRT and or GMO with Ohio licensure
