Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
Coordinate and administer academic advising functions for University of Wyoming College of Agriculture, Life Sciences, and Natural Resources students. Responsible for providing advisement in university and college requirements and procedures to prospective and current students, parents, and staff.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Provide academic advising for CALSNR undergraduate students while adhering to the requirements and regulations needed to complete their programs, as well as advising best practices and FERPA. This includes advising for the next semester's courses, schedule changes, graduation planning, major/minor exploration, resource connections and referrals, early career/internship discussions and referrals. Serve as as a resource to students for University forms and policies. Provide academic, institutional, and overall support for students throughout the entire calendar year.
Assist with the planning, development, and execution of new student onboarding, including the CALSNR online orientation, new student advising, transcript review and articulation, and events such as New Student Days throughout the spring and Saddle Up in the fall.
Maintain accurate and appropriate student records, including student curriculum planning, goals, advising notes, recommendations, and other information related to student success. Daily use of appropriate advising technology. Maintain an accurate caseload. Help maintain internal Advising Center student resource materials. Organize Advising season schedule to ensure all advisees can be met with in a timely fashion. Ensure accurate and timely communications to students.
Liaise with Senior Academic Advisors, Advising Manager, and faculty to establish a high level of understanding of curricular requirements, research areas, career objectives, opportunities for student involvement within their area of study.
Become and remain knowledgeable on best practices in advising. Develop a personal professional development plan. Participate in advisor observations, advisor meetings, and trainings required for college advisors. Collaborate with CALSNR Advising Office staff to learn and promote advising best practices. Participate in university training supplements, workshops, conferences, etc. Travel to and actively engage in regional and/or national professional conferences, when possible.
Stay up to date on Institutional changes, forms, policies, procedures, and resources in order to serve as student resource on these topics. Adjust workflow as changes dictate and adapt quickly to new changes. Attend information sessions and events to learn about campus resources for students. Keep up to date on contact points around campus to help students know who to talk to about different needs.
Assist with the program activities.
Supplemental Functions
Serve as a college representative at resource fairs and recruitment events as needed. Assist with other special projects or events as assigned.
Participate in limited college recruitment events, ceremonies, and other events.
Assist with special projects, as directed.
Serve on committees, as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 1 year work-related experience
Experience Evaluation
Experience requirements are evaluated on a full-time equivalent (FTE) basis. Relevant part-time experience will be prorated based on hours worked. For example, two years working an average of 20 hours per week is equivalent to approximately one year of full-time experience.
Applicants must include the average hours worked per week for all current and previous positions. Failure to provide this information may affect the evaluation of qualifications.
