Overview
We are a family owned and operated company, that has been in business for more than 50 years and are looking to add to our Accounting team.
We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant with excellent technical, analytical and communication skills to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will be detailed oriented with excellent problem-solving skills. The Cost Accountant will collect, analyze and report on all cost accounting data.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cost standards for materials and labor.
- Monitor and participate in physical inventory counts to ensure the accuracy of inventory records.
- Implement a cost accounting system and strategies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure accurate classification of expenses under GAAP.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial/accounting records.
- Identify and present cost analysis to recommend costeffective solutions to improve the company’s financial performance.
- Monitor the accumulation of labor, overhead and other related expenses.
- Perform monthend closing activities, journal entries, reconciliations and regular audits.
- Prepare periodic reports to compare standard pricing to actual production costs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3 years of experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst or equivalent role.
- Proficiency in accounting software, like Oracle, JD Edwards, or SAP.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability and willingness to work individually or in a team setting.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
