What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solutions Architect - Information Systems position at Woman's Hospital?
The Solutions Architect is responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and support of complex technical solutions across the Information Systems department. This role partners closely with operational leaders, technical teams, and stakeholders to evaluate business needs and translate them into scalable system solutions. The Solutions Architect serves as a technical expert across multiple application domains and provides leadership in application architecture, reporting, integrations, workflow optimization, and project delivery. This position also supports strategic technology initiatives, mentors team members, and drives innovation through continuous improvement and emerging technologies.
Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with an emphasis in database design required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience:
- Requires five (5) years of experience supporting database applications, interface development, or scripting/programming.
- Requires three (3) years of healthcare-related experience.
- Experience developing and supporting custom applications required.
- Experience leading projects and managing multiple priorities preferred.
Responsibilities:

Solution Design & Application Development
- Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of technical solutions, custom applications, and reporting tools.
- Create scalable system solutions that align with operational needs and organizational objectives.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Business Analysis
- Partner with hospital leaders and users to understand business needs, analyze workflows, and define functional and technical requirements.
- Gather ongoing feedback and collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout project lifecycles.

Application Support & Technical Solutions
- Support and enhance existing applications through troubleshooting, upgrades, enhancements, and issue resolution.
- Assist with scripting, interfaces, integrations, and database programming across multiple platforms.

Project Leadership & Portfolio Management
- Lead and oversee multiple projects and program portfolios while ensuring timely execution and communication of milestones.
- Mentor team members and provide leadership across Information Systems initiatives.

Technical Expertise & Innovation
- Serve as a subject matter expert and represent Information Systems during leadership and executive discussions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve workflows, systems, and user experience.

Training & Operational Support
- Provide user education, documentation, and ongoing support for new and existing applications.
- Maintain accurate project tracking and participate in professional development and training opportunities.
