What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cytotech - Lab - Full-Time position at Woman's Hospital?
The Cytotech processes various clinical specimens for cytology evaluation. Analyzes cytology specimens includes preparation, examination, and interpretations of findings for review by and under the general direction of a pathologist. Performs other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
Requirements:
- Medical Technology degree with ASCP certification acceptable for cytogenetics and histology.
- Cytotechnologist certification by the ASCP Board of Registry.
- Licensure by the State of Louisiana for Cytology
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain automated screening and imaging systems.
- Screens and evaluates cell samples for the presence of normal and abnormal cells and micro-organisms.
- Makes diagnostic evaluations.
- Mark suspicious findings for review by a pathologist.
- Reports microscopic findings in accepted histopathologic terminology.
- Correlates and tabulates histological, cytologic and clinical information.
- Ensure quality control and compliance with laboratory regulations.
- Document findings accurately in the laboratory information system.
- Participate in proficiency testing, quality assurance, and continuing education.
- Any other duties as assigned by Woman's Hospital.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday; 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Pay Range:
Hourly/Non-Exempt
$33.00 – $49.00
