The Perioperative Services Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) provides clinical, educational, and quality-focused leadership across the perioperative continuum. This role serves as the primary resource for staff development, onboarding, orientation, competency management, continuing education, and professional practice within Perioperative Services. Working in close collaboration with Perioperative Nurse Managers, the CNL coordinates educational programs and professional development initiatives that strengthen workforce readiness, support evidence-based practice, and advance clinical excellence while maintaining alignment with departmental and organizational goals.
The CNL partners with nursing leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to support patient outcomes, care coordination, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and operational effectiveness. This position serves as a key clinical resource across perioperative departments and provides leadership support during periods of operational demand, organizational growth, or leader absence.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in nursing and current licensure with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
- Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one year if the incumbent does not have a BSN.
- Progressive perioperative nursing experience with demonstrated clinical expertise.
- Experience in staff development, education, competency management, clinical leadership, or quality improvement preferred.
- Strong knowledge of perioperative regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and evidence-based practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change, influence professional practice, and drive quality outcomes.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions:
Staff Development & Professional Practice

- Lead onboarding, orientation, competency validation, continuing education, and specialty certification efforts across Perioperative Services.
- Partner with Nurse Managers to assess learning needs, develop staff growth plans, support succession planning, and strengthen workforce readiness.
- Facilitate education, training, and competency programs that advance clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, professional practice, and employee engagement.
Clinical Leadership

- Provide clinical and quality-focused leadership that supports patient outcomes and care coordination across the perioperative continuum.
- Serve as a clinical resource and consultant for nursing staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Promote collaboration and evidence-based practices to optimize patient care delivery and clinical decision-making.
Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance

- Lead quality, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives that support clinical excellence and regulatory readiness.
- Monitor, analyze, and report quality indicators and clinical outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements, specialty standards, and evidence-based professional guidelines.
Clinical Operations & Practice Improvement

- Collaborate with leaders and frontline staff to improve workflows, operational efficiency, and patient care processes.
- Support development and maintenance of clinical policies, procedures, and practice standards.
- Lead initiatives that enhance patient throughput, satisfaction, care coordination, and achievement of organizational goals.
Leadership Support

- Provide leadership coverage and operational support during periods of increased demand, growth, or leader absence.
- Assist departmental leaders with clinical, educational, quality, and operational priorities.
- Participate in committees and strategic initiatives while promoting accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
Pay:
Full-time; Non-Exempt
$36.89 to $60.87 plus shift differentials
