Job Summary:
Performs testing and demonstrates proficiency and understanding of the procedures involved in general laboratory testing, maintenance, quality control and quality management. Performs other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
Job Knowledge:
A working knowledge of laboratory tests and procedures, their purpose, normal ranges, and significance of abnormal values. Must be familiar with operation of laboratory equipment and troubleshooting procedures. Must demonstrate proficiency in collection of specimens and performance of laboratory tests. Good organizational skills, data entry and medical computer software experience helpful.
Minimum Education:
Must have an Associate's degree in a basic science or Bachelor's degree, graduated from an accredited Medical Technology program, and one of the following: MLT, ASCP Registration; CLT, Registration from HEW Proficiency exam; Military Clinical Specialist training. Current licensure with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners is required.
