The Youth Specialist Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of clients in our care. This position involves supervising assigned Youth Specialists, implementing therapeutic interventions, coordinating staff training, and fostering a positive and effective treatment environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in behavioral interventions and crisis management, and display excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide direction to Youth Specialists on assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to therapeutic protocols including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT) interventions.

  • Implement daily schedules and facilitate compliance with treatment plans set by the Youth Specialist teams.

  • Coordinate with the Staff Development Team to ensure all training and development requirements are met for Youth Specialists.

  • Maintain control and security of the facility, effectively applying Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques and CBT strategies to varying client situations.

  • Observe client behavior and maintain the safety of the group, responding to crisis situations according to defined treatment plans.

  • Facilitate group meetings with clients and oversee Level Promotion Review Board meetings, ensuring that clients engage as required for advancement in the program.

  • Communicate significant updates and information to treatment team members through both written and verbal methods, ensuring thorough documentation of client progress and incidents.

  • Participate in clinical staff meetings and ensure that all aspects of treatment plans and activities are implemented as discussed.

  • Review unit logs, medical waivers, incident reports, and other documentation related to assigned clients at the beginning of each shift, ensuring timely and complete records are maintained.

  • Complete weekly case summaries for each assigned client, highlighting progress and areas for improvement.

  • Cover shifts and responsibilities of assigned staff as needed, ensuring continuous support for clients.

  • Conduct regular team meetings with assigned staff to address concerns, reinforce protocols, and promote teamwork.

  • Administer medication to clients as prescribed, maintaining accurate records as required by healthcare providers.

  • Review and approve Incident Reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory and agency standards.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in WHS technology platforms and applications, utilizing them effectively for documentation and communication.

  • Act as a mandated reporter in accordance with Michigan Child Protection Law, reporting any concerns regarding client welfare immediately.

  • Attend and actively participate in all required meetings, trainings, and agency workshops.

  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the overarching mission of Wolverine Human Services to provide exceptional care and support to our clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a child caring institution, or equivalent experience as outlined in the job description.
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic interventions and crisis management techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Qualifications:

  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelors’ degree and 2 years’ experience in a child caring institution (CCI) is preferred or 2 years of college and 3 years’ experience in a CCI or a high school diploma and 4 years’ experience in a CCI required 

  • Demonstrate proficiency in WHS technology platforms and applications 

  • Level 1 Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) endorsement for basic core skills 

  • Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) seminar provided by the agency, with the physical ability to apply and perform CPI techniques 

  • American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification 

  • Valid Michigan driver and chauffeur license or ability to obtain chauffeur license
