What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surface Operator - Sufco position at Wolverine Fuels?
JOB LOCATION: Canyon Fuel Company - Sufco Mine
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for the safe and efficient loading of coal onto trucks and rail cars while maximizing the effective utilization of resources provided to deliver a quality product to various customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Operate mobile equipment on uneven surfaces
- Frequent overhead work on belt lines
- Ability to work inside confined areas on chute liners and chute repair projects
- Continuous standing and walking for extended periods of time in inclement weather and in dark, noisy, dirty, and wet work environments
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, extending, and lifting up to 50lbs.
- Must have mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance on machines and/or equipment
- Reasonable strength, agility, and stamina (long hours)
- Good hand-eye co-ordination, hearing, and eyesight
- Good spatial perception for judging distances
- Ability to remain alert while performing repetitive tasks
- Support and participation in the Sufco BBS process and comply with all company policies, safety practices and applicable Federal Regulations
- Work with trucking companies, drivers, and others in a professional manner
- Load, weigh coal transport vehicles of varying sizes and complete all support documentation
- Utilize the forklift to unload various types of freight being delivered to the mine site in addition to utilizing loaders, hoists, etc., for the unloading of heavy equipment delivery
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Current CDL preferred
- Safe driving record
- Surface Foreman Certification or ability to obtain within a timely manner
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Excellent interpersonal & communications skills both written and oral
- Excellent safety and attendance record
- Must have experience operating heavy equipment
- Must be a self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision
- Must have basic computer skills
- Ability to climb ladders and travel inclined walkways
- Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as necessary
