Wolverine Fire Protection is seeking a full-time On-Site Safety Professional for a project in Warrenton, Missouri. Preference will be given to candidates within a commutable distance of the project.

This is a field-focused safety position. The Safety Professional will spend the majority of the workday on the job site, working directly with our crew and supervision to help ensure work is planned and performed safely.

We are looking for someone comfortable being present with the crews, building positive working relationships, and coaching employees and supervisors when unsafe activities, behaviors, or conditions are observed. The goal is not simply to identify problems—it is to work with the team to correct them, reinforce safe work practices, and help prevent incidents before they occur.

How you can help the team:

  • Observe work activities and identify unsafe behaviors, conditions, or work practices.
  • Coach employees and supervisors when unsafe activities are observed and help determine the appropriate corrective action.
  • Recognize and reinforce positive safety behaviors and good work practices.
  • Work with supervision and crew to plan upcoming work and identify hazards before work begins.
  • Intervene when necessary to protect employees and others on the job site and help the team determine a safe path forward.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) with the team and ensure they accurately address the work being performed.
  • Help ensure employees understand the JHA, Safe System of Work, permits, and other requirements associated with their work.
  • Verify employees have the appropriate training, credentials, PPE, tools, and equipment for their assigned tasks.
  • Conduct and support safety training, toolbox discussions, and other field safety conversations.
  • Ensure required equipment inspections and Competent Person documentation are completed.
  • Participate in site HSE meetings, audits, assessments, and leadership safety walks.
  • Work cooperatively with the customer, other contractors, and their HSE representatives.
  • Ensure near misses, incidents, injuries, and property damage are reported and assist with incident investigations.
  • Maintain required safety documentation and submit completed project safety documents as required.
  • Help crews prepare for emergencies and understand what to do if an emergency occurs.
  • Lead by example and help build a strong safety culture on the job site.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate should be approachable, confident, and comfortable communicating with employees at all levels. This position requires someone who can recognize unsafe work, address it professionally, and coach the team toward a safer way of completing the task.

Candidates must have:

  • At least 5 years of relevant industrial construction safety and supervisory experience.
  • CSP, ASP, or CHST designation/qualification.
  • Current OSHA 30 and OSHA 500 certifications.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Strong communication and field coaching skills.
  • Ability to speak comfortably with individuals and groups.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods while working in an active construction environment.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position. The typical schedule is 5 days per week, with work hours based on project needs and workflow. Candidates should be prepared for extended workdays and periods of significant overtime as project demands require.

Weekend work may also be required based on project workflow and scheduling needs. Flexibility in work hours and availability is important, as the Safety Professional is expected to be on site supporting our crews while work is being performed.

Candidates must be able to pass a background check and federal contractor drug screening.
