Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring proper documentation review
- Manage multi-line phone systems with courteous phone etiquette and prompt responsiveness
- Collect payments, process billing, and perform medical collection procedures in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain accurate dental records and medical files within EMR systems like Meditech or eClinicalWorks
- Assist with intake procedures, patient check-in/out, and updating medical history and care plans
- Handle insurance claims processing using CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes, and ensure proper documentation of procedures
- Support front desk operations by filing documents, managing office supplies, and performing clerical tasks such as typing reports and data entry with proficiency in Microsoft Office
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical billing practices
- Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with EMR systems like Epic or Meditech is a plus
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to health information management and patient privacy standards
- Ability to perform insurance verification, medical coding (CPT, ICD), and review documentation accurately
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanor and effective phone etiquette
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, documentation review, and office management tasks
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations
- Office experience, including front desk responsibilities, medical scheduling, and clerical support in busy healthcare environments
