Assistant Director of Creative Services

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will act in a supporting role in the visual design efforts for the Wolfpack Club and NC State Athletics. This role will work under the direction of the Director of Creative Services to help meet the design needs for NC State Athletics (teams, marketing, communications, video, sales/fundraising efforts) and the Wolfpack Club.

RESPSONSIBILITIES

Primary duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assisting the Director of Creative Services to manage the demand for creative projects and to provide graphic design for assigned sports.
• Responsible for ensuring graphics remain on brand and meet the vision of the Athletics Department and align with the University. Continue to develop the branding guidelines for NC State Athletics.
• Design assigned environmental graphics for athletic facilities.
• Provide guidance to the students and interns on projects and deadlines.
• Provide photography and photo-editing capabilities (headshots, media day photo shoots, and potentially in-game action shots) for various sports teams.
• Assist the director with building, mentoring, and coordinating a student design team and help develop a relationship with NC State College of Design.
• Creation of various elements for GoPack.com, designing digital and print advertising, social media graphics, media guides, posters, t-shirts, large format environmental graphics, and various other flyers and promotional materials.
• Provide graphics for Wolfpack Club to assist with fundraising efforts and membership.

This position has great variety, and will give opportunities to design, create, and become well-versed in a variety of areas.

Ideal candidates will have a great eye for design, good understanding of typography and layout principles, web programming expertise (HTML, CSS, JS), and a passion for design, branding, and sports. We work on Adobe CS6, mainly Photoshop, with some Illustrator, InDesign, and Flash.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalency and two years of visual/graphic arts experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications:

• Ability to create and modify web pages using HTML and CSS
• Fluent in Adobe Photoshop
• Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
• Basic camera knowledge for photo shoots
• Knowledge of print layout
• Strong portfolio

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Working knowledge of Adobe Flash, Adobe InDesign and/or After Effects
• College degree related to design or web programming
• Prior design or web programming experience working in a fast-moving, deadline-based environment
• Comfortable using a mac computer
• Knowledgeable and passionate about sports
