Speech/Language Therapist – Contract Position

Schedule: 5 hours per week, during school operating hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Wolfguard Solutions is seeking a qualified Speech/Language Therapist to provide speech and language therapy services for students at San Ildefonso Day School. The therapist will support students with speech, language, hearing, and other certified diagnoses requiring services under an Individualized Education Plan. Services will include screenings, evaluations, therapeutic interventions, IEP participation, audiometric screenings, and support for students in both individual and small-group settings.
Position Summary
The Speech/Language Therapist will work with special needs students referred through the Student Assistance Team process, as well as students who have previously received speech or language therapy services. The role is focused on improving student communication, addressing articulation concerns, supporting expressive and receptive language development, and helping students access the general education environment more effectively.
The selected contractor must understand the unique educational, cultural, and community needs of students at San Ildefonso Pueblo. Experience working with Native American students or similar student populations is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
The Speech/Language Therapist shall:
- Provide speech and language therapy services to students diagnosed as speech-language impaired, hearing impaired, or otherwise certified as needing related services.
- Conduct screenings for new students attending San Ildefonso Day School.
- Complete full speech and language screenings for students entering kindergarten.
- Evaluate students using standardized testing instruments to determine whether services or placement are warranted.
- Provide therapeutic services in one-on-one and small-group settings.
- Support students in both disabled and non-disabled educational settings, as appropriate.
- Provide therapy strategies and recommendations that may be carried into the home when warranted.
- Help students develop adaptations and communication strategies that support success in the general education classroom.
- Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with the Multidisciplinary Team to determine the Least Restrictive Environment for speech/language students.
- Complete evaluations within the required 60-day legal framework after the Permission to Evaluate form is signed by the parent or guardian.
- Conduct audiometric screenings for special education students.
- Create service plans for existing students who have received services for multiple years, particularly where the disability is not related to organic factors.
- Provide all supplies, materials, and tools required to perform the designated work.
Required Qualifications
The contractor must have:
- A valid U.S. state-issued license as a Speech/Language Therapist or Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Current knowledge of speech and language therapy practices for school-aged students.
- Experience evaluating and treating articulation, expressive language, and receptive language deficits.
- Experience working with special education students and IEP teams.
- Ability to comply with BIE security clearance requirements for working with students in a school environment.
- Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work professionally within a school setting and maintain student confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred experience includes:
- Prior experience working with Native American students or tribal communities.
- Experience in a small school or rural school environment.
- Familiarity with culturally responsive educational practices.
- Prior work with Student Assistance Teams, Multidisciplinary Teams, and IEP processes.

Services will be performed at San Ildefonso Day School, located at 36 Tunyo Po, Santa Fe, NM 87506. The school serves a unique student population within San Ildefonso Pueblo, and the contractor must demonstrate cultural awareness, professionalism, reliability, and sensitivity to the learning environment of the school and community.
Housing and moving expenses are not provided.
