Location: Wolfeboro, New HampshireThe Wolfeboro Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Police Officer.Wolfeboro is located in the heart of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region and is known as the “Oldest Summer Resort in America.” Our year-round population of approximately 6,400 grows significantly during the spring, summer, and fall, creating a unique policing environment that combines community policing with the challenges of a busy seasonal destination.The Wolfeboro Police Department is governed by an elected three-member Police Commission and is comprised of 14 sworn officers providing 24-hour law enforcement services to the community.WHY WOLFEBORO?We are looking for motivated individuals who want more than just a job. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSApplicants must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a valid New Hampshire driver’s license
  • Meet applicable New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council requirements
  • Meet the required physical fitness standards
  • Successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation
  • Successfully complete required medical and psychological examinations
  • Successfully complete all other phases of the department’s selection process
  • Be eligible for certification as a New Hampshire police officer

College education, military service, prior law enforcement experience, and other relevant professional experience are desirable but are not required.Certified New Hampshire police officers and out-of-state certified officers who may qualify for certification through New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council are encouraged to apply.SELECTION PROCESSQualified applicants may be required to successfully complete:

  • Physical fitness testing
  • Application and background investigation
  • Oral interview(s)
  • Polygraph examination
  • Psychological examination
  • Medical examination
  • Additional testing or assessment as required by the Wolfeboro Police Department and New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council

Physical fitness testing is based upon standards established for New Hampshire law enforcement officers. Candidates required to attend the Full-Time Police Academy must meet the applicable entrance and graduation fitness standards established by the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council.DUTIESA Wolfeboro Police Officer performs a wide range of professional law enforcement duties, including:

  • Responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
  • Conducting proactive and preventive patrol
  • Enforcing state laws and Town ordinances
  • Investigating criminal offenses
  • Conducting traffic enforcement and crash investigations
  • Making arrests and preparing criminal cases
  • Preparing reports and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Collecting and preserving evidence
  • Assisting victims and members of the public
  • Testifying in court and administrative proceedings
  • Participating in community policing activities and special events
  • Working cooperatively with local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies
  • Performing other law enforcement duties and assignments as required
