Responsibilities
- Safely operate roll-off trucks, to pick up and deliver waste containers across designated routes.
- Load and unload containers efficiently using mechanical knowledge of dump trucks, and flatbeds.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and state transportation laws during route driving.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, perform preventive maintenance checks, and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times, including proper use of air brake systems and manual transmission operation.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with clients during pickups and drop-offs.
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, pickups, route details, and vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as roll-off trucks, garbage trucks, dump trucks, or tractor-trailers.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for air brake systems; experience with manual transmission preferred.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws, DOT regulations, hazardous materials handling, and municipal waste management practices.
- Mechanical aptitude to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on heavy-duty vehicles.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety protocol adherence in outdoor work environments.
- Excellent driving record with defensive driving skills; delivery driver experience is highly valued.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety and efficiency.
