What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabrication Parts Prep position at Wolf Hills Fabricators?
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare components for subassemblies from prints and verbal descriptions by cutting, grinding, sanding, and filing components as directed.
- Review drawings for completeness and accuracy before beginning fabrication
assignments.
- Request necessary materials (plate steel, flat bar, expanded metal, etc.) and shop
supplies (tools, gas, and miscellaneous supplies).
- Perform inspections of equipment.
- Work with the supervisor to inspect parts and products for compliance with prints, instructions, and quality requirements.
Physical Requirements
- Stand up to 8 hours per day; walk up to 1 hour per day.
- Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling for grinding, sanding, filing, cutting, and inspections.
- Occasionally lift to 75 lbs.
- Operate fabrication equipment including oxy-acetylene torch, plasma torch, hoist, forklift, and band saws.
- Requires finger dexterity, good vision, physical stamina, and clear communication skills.
Additional Responsibilities
- Develop and suggest cost-saving ideas.
- Promote and ensure safe work habits in the fabrication shop.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma required; additional training in welding and blueprint reading
preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of hand tools (grinder, sander, files, cutting torch, etc.) and fabrication
equipment.
- Basic math skills required.
- Must be able to work Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with the exception of occasional overtime.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.50 per hour
