What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabrication Parts Prep/Helper position at Wolf Hills Fabricators?
Essential Job Functions
● Prepare components for subassemblies from prints and verbal descriptions by cutting, grinding, sanding, and filing components as directed.
● Review drawings for completeness and accuracy before beginning fabrication
assignments.
● Request necessary materials (plate steel, flat bar, expanded metal, etc.) and shop
supplies (tools, gas, and miscellaneous supplies).
● Perform inspections of equipment.
● Work with the supervisor to inspect parts and products for compliance with prints, instructions, and quality requirements.
Physical Requirements
● Stand up to 10 hours per day; walk up to 1 hour per day.
● Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling for grinding, sanding, filing, cutting, and inspections.
● Occasionally lift to 75 lbs.
● Operate fabrication equipment including oxy-acetylene torch, plasma torch, hoist, forklift, and band saws.
● Requires finger dexterity, good vision, physical stamina, and clear communication skills.
Additional Responsibilities
● Develop and suggest cost-saving ideas.
● Promote and ensure safe work habits in the fabrication shop.
Education & Experience
● High school diploma required; additional training in welding and blueprint reading
preferred.
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Knowledge of hand tools (grinder, sander, files, cutting torch, etc.) and fabrication
equipment.
● Basic math skills required.
● Must be able to work Monday - Thursday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, with every other Friday additional 8 hours.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.50 per hour
