Position Overview
The Café Manager will oversee daily café operations, maintain service standards, coordinate product availability, and help create a welcoming experience for customers.
This position requires someone who is organized, reliable, attentive to detail, and comfortable balancing customer service with operational responsibilities.
The café's initial offerings will focus on coffee, beverages, and baked goods, with operations and offerings subject to business needs and applicable requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily café operations and opening and closing procedures
- Prepare and serve coffee, beverages, and other menu offerings
- Coordinate the display, stocking, and presentation of baked goods
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming customer service area
- Ensure food handling, sanitation, and cleaning procedures are followed
- Monitor inventory and communicate supply and purchasing needs
- Receive and organize deliveries from suppliers and local vendors
- Monitor product freshness, rotation, labeling, and storage
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of beverages, ingredients, packaging, and supplies
- Provide friendly, efficient, and professional customer service
- Handle customer questions, concerns, and service issues
- Operate the point-of-sale system and assist with transaction reconciliation as assigned
- Help develop efficient workflows and consistent service standards
- Coordinate with management regarding sales, inventory, expenses, and operational needs
- Assist with product merchandising, seasonal offerings, and promotions
- Help maintain compliance with applicable food safety and sanitation requirements
- Support other store operations when needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Dependability, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced customer-facing environment
- Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and cleaning procedures
- Ability to handle stocking, lifting, standing, and other routine physical tasks
- Willingness to learn the café's products, procedures, and service standards
Preferred:
- Previous café, coffee shop, bakery, restaurant, or hospitality experience
- Experience supervising employees or managing daily operations
- Familiarity with coffee preparation and beverage service
- Experience with point-of-sale systems, inventory management, and ordering
- Food handler training or applicable food safety certification, where required
