What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education RISE Program (Autism) position at Woburn Public Schools?
Duties:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students with special needs in a preschool setting.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Utilize evidence-based strategies and techniques to address behavioral challenges and promote positive behavior.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, to provide a comprehensive approach to student development.
- Adapt instructional materials and methods to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as necessary.
- Provide mentoring and support to students, helping them develop social skills and build self-confidence.
- Utilize behavioral therapy techniques to address challenging behaviors and promote appropriate behavior.
- Incorporate library services into the curriculum, fostering a love for reading and literacy in students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs.
- Knowledge of behavioral health principles and behavior management strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.
- Ability to adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
