What are the responsibilities and job description for the On-Site Transportation Safety Manager position at WNY Bus Co.?
Our transportation businesses have relocated to our brand new facility and we are looiking for a Transportation Safety Manager to join our team! This position is a hands on position responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by developing, implementing, executing, and managing safety programs and training initiatives within our transportation industry.
This position will be the main point of contact for employees, drivers, and Owner Operators with regards to safety issues and will be a reliable resource of information on the company’s training and safety programs. A successful safety manager will have a strong background in safety management or supervision, DOT/FMSCA/OSHA regulations, and hands-on industry experience including customer relations. They will also identify and address potential hazards, analyze safety data, and lead incident investigations, ultimately contributing to a safer and more productive work environment for our drivers and shops. This position requires the ability to use technology as it relates to safety improvement using various telematics data including in vehicle camera systems.
This position is a salaried position, requiring 55 hours a week Monday through Friday.
This position starts daily at 5am, and requires you be outside in our parking lot and bus yard to ensure the smooth and safe start of each day. We will provide necessary equipment and clothing allowance for comfort and safety.
After our vehicles are out, the position requires watching cameras, videos and training drivers each day.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a Safety, Training or related position within the trucking/transportation industry.
- Having your CDL license and any additional certifications a PLUS!
- Strong attention to detail; excellent organization skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both with customers/vendors and internal teams
- Problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, effective decisions.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing demands.
- Physical activities include walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, and maneuvering on elevated surfaces.
- May be exposed to loud noise and other environmental conditions.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
- Knowledge of safe job practices & regulations related to OSHA/FMSCA/HAZMAT, and DOT requirements.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license
- Current CDL-B holder preferred
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain DOT Drug and Alcohol Certification.
- After-hours availability will be required for critical incidents to include but not limited to: accidents, incidents, systems issues, etc.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
