What are the responsibilities and job description for the Videographer/Editor position at WNPT - Nashville PBS?
This position is responsible for field video and audio acquisition using electronic field production equipment as well as video and audio editing. Works independently and collaboratively to provide Nashville PBS with creative, efficient, high-quality videography and editing.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides videography services for Nashville PBS productions by operating electronic field production equipment, including cameras, field lighting, microphones and monitoring equipment.
- Executes field production projects in a creative and effective manner by selecting, framing, and lighting visual elements to tell compelling stories for television and digital formats. Works both independently and as part of a team, depending on project; works under the direction of a producer and/or makes creative decisions collaboratively or independently as required.
- Provides editing services for Nashville PBS by operating non-linear edit systems to creatively assemble video/audio elements into completed segments and/or programs.
- Acts as producer on occasional short-form programs.
- Willing to work on studio crew with training in graphics, audio, or directing.
- Participates in construction and erection of sets, staging, and lighting for field, studio, and remote productions as directed.
- Ensures that all production activities are performed according to safety requirements.
- Provides primary level maintenance, adjustment, and repair of authorized production related equipment. Refers electronic and other equipment to engineering maintenance personnel or production team lead as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:
Thorough understanding of field production equipment and techniques, including ENG cameras and DSLRs. Ability to transport and utilize equipment weighing up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time. Demonstrated skills in non-linear editing. Adobe Premiere experience a plus. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum three years’ experience in videography and editing preferred.

Occasional travel is necessary. Work space varies from inside, to working outside for extended periods during the day.
