Description

Originates residential real estate loans for in-house and secondary markets. Increases loan portfolio by developing business contacts, attracting mortgage clients, and completing mortgage loan processing and closing. Understands and completes job responsibilities in accordance with federal and state compliance regulations. 


Essential Functions:

Loan Processing 65%

  • Meets with loan applicants to obtain information and to answer questions about the process
  • Analyzes applicant’s financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loan
  • Advises clients on loan products and credit options 
  • Collects and uploads all necessary supporting loan documentation required for a completed application
  • Secures pertinent client authorization and generates required disclosures
  • Works with processors and underwriters to ensure efficient and accurate processing and closing of loan
  • Closes loans and cross sells/refers additional products and services


Business Development and Sales 30% 

  • Develops a business referral network through marketing, calling, prospecting and networking activities
  • Stays abreast of new types of loans, helps with research and implementation for product line


Additional Duties and Responsibilities 5%

  • Serves on bank committees as needed
  • Serves on community boards and committees as a bank representative
  • Other job related duties necessary to carry out responsibilities of this position
  • Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required

Work Relationships and Scope:

Frequent contact with clients. Regular contact with co-workers. Occasional contact with suppliers/vendors, community/trade/professional affiliates, and federal/state government/regulatory agencies. Works regularly with highly confidential business and client information. Occasionally participates in bank committees and events.

Keeps Bank and client information confidential; professional workplace appearance and conduct; honesty and integrity in all client and co-worker communications; reliability in reporting to work regularly and on time; understands Bank policies and procedures and applicable state and federal regulations. Participates in training and appropriate professional development. Multi-tasks and effectively manages varying duties throughout the workday. Demonstrates professionalism, commitment to the job, and loyalty to the Bank.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Two-year degree in business related coursework required; four-year degree desirable. One year mortgage experience or two years banking, customer service/sales related experience required. Must possess: ability to deal effectively with time pressures and stress that can change hourly depending on level of customer activity; courteous and professional customer service attitude and excellent interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting professionally with clients and coworkers (both pleasant and difficult situations); ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential client and Bank information. Must possess computer functioning and typing skills; strong organization and follow-up skills; basic mathematical skills up to and including decimals; legible handwriting, effective problem solving skills. Must be a self-starter and independent thinker and meet monthly goals as set by manager.


Working Conditions:

Work is performed largely in an office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Frequent in-town/local travel required for business meetings. Occasional out-of-town and overnight business travel (air or auto) is required for business and education. Regular mental and visual concentration for computer usage required. Frequent repetitive use of keyboard for approximately 4 hours per day. Frequent repetitive fingering of documents. Frequent use of the telephone. Requires ability to receive and provide detailed information through verbal communication. Requires near and mid-range vision. Will alternate sitting, standing, and walking throughout work shift. Bend, kneel, lift and carry up to 20 pounds of documents and office supplies; climb stairs to access files. Occasional exposure to significant work pace. Hours of work are generally during regular business. There will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, community events, alarm/security calls, and other concerns.


Equipment Used:  

Operates personal computer in a Windows environment for word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, internet, and other bank specific software. Operates core systems on Silverlake and MortgageBot. Utilizes a variety of office equipment including: computer printer, typewriter, ten-key calculator, fax, copy machine, check writer, and multi-line telephone.
