BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Production Trainer is responsible for the development, maintenance, coordination, and execution of the training plan for all members of the production team. They are responsible for the development and maintenance of all SOPs involving the production operation from line changeovers, starting a line, line adjustments, INOEX wall monitors, packaging all products and applicable paperwork. The Plant Trainer tracks daily record keeping of production activities as required. The Plant Trainer will be expected to train, coach, and develop new team members, existing team members who move to new positions, improve skill sets, identify best practices, and optimize the use of Lean and individual development tools to meet safety, quality, and production needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Train operators in quality requirements for each individual position.
  • Train operators on SOP’s and JSA’s.
  • Communicate to management progress of training of each operator.
  • Provide all paperwork related to training.
  • Develop training documents.
  • Assist with development of SOPs and JSAs.
  • Schedule, coordinate and evaluate training activities.
  • Coordinate with Managers, Supervisors, and Human Resources to assess training needs.
  • Audit processes to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain training records.
  • Operate machinery required for particular positions in a safe and efficient manner, to include training of new and existing operators in the execution out of their duties.
  • Train employees to communicate efficiently with other employees and the plant leadership team to ensure quality product is made timely.
  • Train employees to assemble products as per instructions with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Practice and teach Lean Manufacturing Techniques.
  • Train employees to communicate efficiently with other employees and the leadership team to ensure quality product is made timely.
  • Train employees to read and interpret production logs and machine condition reports and complete all paperwork correctly and timely.
  • Perform weekly SHE audits.
  • Teach new and existing employees to read, understand, and follow production schedules.
  • Train employees to set up and adjust equipment.
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance and operator care as required to fulfill their training duties.
  • Maintain Inoex wall monitor maintenance agreement.
  • Monitor and update Inoex wall monitors, daily.
  • Assist Management, Maintenance, Shipping, and Quality personnel when troubleshooting equipment, process, or material issues.
  • Coach and train on the process and importance of maintaining downtime records and production information as appropriate.
  • Perform housekeeping duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Work safely and follow all safety rules and procedures.

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP and PowerPoint, experience with Alchemy and/or other training systems is a plus.
  • Proven training experience in a production environment combined with strong project management skills.
  • Understands Continuous Improvement and Lean manufacturing.
  • Strong team player who is able to work across multiple functions.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, results oriented.
  • Able to work under deadline pressures.
  • Regular in-person predictable attendance is required.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, adaptable to change.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to all levels of the organization.
  • Mathematical: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all common units of measure, using whole numbers, complex fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret multiple graphs, tables, and charts.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have more than a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and internet-based programs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a non-U.S. citizen having legal status to reside and work in the U.S. for reasons other than practical training.
  • Proven leadership, persuasive, initiative, adaptability, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position. 
  • Must have ability to connect and build rapport and relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Must have ability to work efficiently with time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to drive process improvement and lead change.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential function of the job. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders.
  • Ability to stand and walk 8-10 hours a day
  • Ability to wear PPE, including, but not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, and steel toe footwear that meets ASTM F-2413-2005 standards while in required locations.
  • The employee will be required to: read, communicate verbally and in written form, remember and analyze certain information, and remember and understand certain instructions or guidelines.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel and to reach with hands and arms. 
  • Use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, keyboarding, reach with hands and arms
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish color.
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be available “on Call”, as needed. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position combines hands-on technical analysis and administrative tasks

Time will be spent among office, production floor, and lab areas. A large majority of time may be spent working on the production floor.

  • Work closely with managers, supervisors, office staff and plant personnel
  • Ability to work inside/outside in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperatures and in climate weather.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above TWA limit. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School/GED required with 3 years experience OR
  • Associates degree preferred with 1 years experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with 1 years of manufacturing experience

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel is not usually required. Travel to other cities or manufacturing facilities may be necessary for training or benchmarking purposes. This should be less than 5% of the time.
