What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at WKW North America LLC?
Supervises all activities within the department to include both series and service parts with direction from the Superintendent. Sets up standards of quality and performance, measures progress in adherence to WKW Quality Policy: “To safely provide a quality product, on time, at a competitive price, focused on customer satisfaction and continual improvement.” Sets up and controls workflow and determines personnel needs based on production schedules with the assistance of the Superintendent and Human Resources.
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Ensure the startup shift is properly done, all the paperwork is in place and filled out, and all the data imputed on the computerized report system (i.e. BDV, Power BI, SAP) are correct and accurate.
- Plan, prioritize, supervise and review the work of employees responsible for production.
- Coordinate worker assignments.
- Participate in the selection of staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
- Foster an adequate, disciplined, productive and collaborative work and production environment.
- Hold team members accountable.
- Monitor standard work and fix any concerns tied to execution of standards
- Scrap recording verification
- Incident (accident) reports preparation and submission
- Abide by and enforce policies of the company Employee Handbook.
- Oversee safety, cleanliness and 5-S/organization of department. Promote a safe and clean working environment.
- Effectively communicate with peers and employees.
- Responsible for the accomplishment of quality requirements, productivity targets (production outputs) and OEE of shift.
- Provide end of shift reports.
- Coordinate production schedule with production control
- Coordinate and communicates with other Supervisors from other departments and within department shift to shift.
- Supervisor must be able to train any team members or team leads on the following: Various assembly processes for series and service parts, end of shift paperwork, and understand the production schedule and how to be a good leader.
- Record product and processing data on specified forms for series and service parts.
- Coordinate with Anodize and Logistics to ensure inventory accuracy and on time deliveries.
- performance reviews and performance decisions.
- Responsible for maintaining product quality standards.
- Responsible for updating the training matrix for their respective department.
- Responsible for executing plant escalation policy tied to scrap and downtime.

- Exercise direct leadership over employees for his/her shift for responsibility and indirect responsibility for employees of other shifts and department.
- Provide coverage for other supervisors in their absence.
- Responsible for SAP Transactions for all exiting of finished goods.
- Responsible for SAP Transactions for rework material.
- Balance Quality, Productivity, Cost, Safety and Morale to achieve Positive results.
- Control and minimize labor Overtime costs.
- Assist in analyzing failure and corrective and preventative actions - 8D activity.
- Track absenteeism, update vacation calendar for the department, update time and attendance system daily for team members.
- Recommend procedures for facility and equip. maintenance/modification.
- Ensure that Operators conform to production or processing standards.
- Coach and provide guidance to employees on Production Boards.
- Conduct startup meeting for oncoming shift if supervisor is absent or late.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops.
- Track Department performance to meet goals and objectives - KPI's.
- Report out Departments results and actions to the Superintendent and Staff.
- Critical: Praise Good Performance and Coach Below Expected Performance.
- Participate in OEE cross functional improvement meetings.
- Conduct daily LPAs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Experience and Qualifications:
- Must possess a minimum of High School Diploma and Prior Leadership/Supervision Experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation.
- Understanding of production processes: manual and automatic.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed during the week and weekends
- Knowledge of measurement tools: gages, calipers and micrometers. Ability to use gages or measuring devices, as required.
- Ability to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost and employee relations.
- Team member training and development.
- Ability to measure performance to goals and standards.
- Quality orientation and attention to detail.
- Familiar with Quality Management System (QMS) for IATF requirements and Environmental Management System (EMS) for ISO 14001 (2015) a plus
Computer Skills:
- Working knowledge of the MS Office Suite including MS Project.
Reasoning Ability:
- Able to start or stop all productions of Assembly in coordination with Superintendent.
- Able to discipline team members, hire and terminate team members with HR approval.
- Able to schedule necessary changes with production, logistics, materials, etc.

Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Health and Safety or Metals Industry preferred.
- Any relevant education and/or training will be considered a plus
Work Environment:
- Must be willing to work in a manufacturing environment.
