Description:
The Engineering Manager leads a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technicians in all aspects of manufacturing engineering ranging from collaboration with cross functional teams on development programs, transition of those programs to production launch, and continual improvement in production operations and processes.
Job Duties/Responsibilities - (Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following):
- Plans, directs, and coordinates Quoting Engineer, Manufacturing Engineers and Launch Engineer (when applicable). Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Analyzes and plans work center utilization, space requirements and workflow; and designs equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Meets with Corporate engineering and design staff to discuss product design and tooling to ensure effective print specifications and methods.
- Confers with OP vendors to determine product specification and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluates products or services according to WKW specifications and quality standards.
- Estimates project due dates, staffing and workload requirements, and related costs to deliver capital and expense projects on time and under budget.
- Works with management and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate WKW’s schedule accomplishment.
- Applies statistical and lean improvement tools to maintain routine waste reduction.
- Performs/leads plant process capacity analysis.
- Support and advance our existing safety culture.
- Lead team members in developing, managing and achieving performance objectives that align with the company’s objectives.
- Ensure appropriately skilled resources are available to support the shop floor. Hire, train, and mentor engineering team members.
- Provide estimates of production times, staffing requirements, and related cost information and propose recommendations to top management in order to ensure sound decision making.
- Prepare departmental budgets and cost estimates and manage performance to those ensure objectives are met.
- Recommend solutions to business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement, and present ideas to top management.
- Ensure manufacturing documentation required for product manufacturing i.e. revised drawing, BOM, accurate work instructions and workmanship standards as well as process procedures.
Job Requirements/Qualifications - (Requirements may be modified or amended for reasonable accommodations):
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- 12 years of plant engineering experience
- 4 years of supervisory experience.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact positively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $108,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
