Job Overview
WJ Carey Construction is looking for a dependable, hands-on General Laborer to support our crews on active construction sites. This role is a great fit for someone who takes pride in hard work, works safely, and is ready to help keep projects moving. You’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople, build your skills on the job, and have room to grow with the company.
What You’ll Do
Operate and care for construction equipment, machinery, and hand tools as assigned.
Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials and supplies.
Prepare work areas by clearing debris, obstacles, and potential hazards.
Assist equipment operators, carpenters, masons, concrete crews, and other trades as needed.
Help assemble and dismantle temporary structures and jobsite setups as directed.
Move, fill, or compact earth and assist with general site work.
Follow supervisor instructions, safety procedures, and jobsite requirements.
Complete daily cleanup and keep work areas orderly and safe.
Learn new tasks and construction techniques through hands-on training.
What You’ll Bring
At least 3 years of general labor experience in the construction industry.
Valid driver’s license.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong work ethic, punctuality, reliability, and a team-first attitude.
Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift 60 pounds and safely use power tools and construction equipment.
Ability to climb ladders, work on your feet, and work at heights up to 45 feet.
Ability to read a tape measure and follow instructions.
Willingness and ability to assist with a variety of construction tasks.
