Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook nutritious, well-balanced meals according to menus, dietary guidelines, and resident preferences
- Ensure meals are served on schedule and at proper temperatures
- Follow special diet requirements (low sodium, texture-modified, etc.)
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized kitchen environment in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Assist with meal plating and presentation to promote a pleasant dining experience
- Monitor and rotate food inventory
- Safely operate and maintain kitchen equipment
- Adhere to proper food handling, storage, and sanitation standards
- Collaborate with dietary staff and caregivers to support resident needs
- Demonstrate patience, respect, and a positive attitude when interacting with other staff and residents
- Previous cooking or food service experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices
- Ability to prepare meals that meet dietary restrictions and special diet requirements
- Strong organizational and time management skills to meet meal schedules
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25-30 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills, ability to work cooperatively with staff and residents
- Dependable, punctual, and flexible to work scheduled shifts, including every other weekend/holidays as needed
- Compassionate and respectful attitude toward older adults
