Position Summary
The Summer Camp Lead Teacher is the primary instructional lead for Wize coding, robotics, and STEAM camp. This role is responsible for delivering engaging lessons using Wize’s established curriculum, leading a positive and structured classroom, supporting assistant teachers when assigned, and helping students stay safe, engaged, and successful.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach interactive coding, robotics, and STEAM lessons using Wize Computing Academy’s provided curriculum.
- Lead a positive, structured, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.
- Help students build projects, solve problems, and stay engaged during hands-on activities.
- Manage student behavior using clear expectations and positive reinforcement.
- Monitor student participation, engagement, behavior, attendance, and progress.
- Support assistant teachers with lesson delivery, classroom management, student engagement, and project questions when assistants are assigned.
- Communicate professionally with parents, staff, and management regarding student progress, classroom needs, and concerns.
- Assist with student transitions, classroom setup, materials, and cleanup as needed.
- Escalate operational, safety, parent, or staffing concerns to management when appropriate.
- Represent Wize Computing Academy professionally and positively at all times.
Qualifications
- Education, training, or professional experience in technology, education, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or working with children in an educational, recreational, childcare, tutoring, or camp setting.
- Comfortable giving instructions, managing a classroom, and communicating with parents and staff in English.
- Strong instructional, communication, and classroom management skills.
- Comfortable leading group lessons and helping students with hands-on projects.
- Organized, reliable, patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic.
- Positive attitude and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Successful completion of a background check is required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience teaching coding, robotics, STEAM, or STEAM programs.
- Experience serving as a lead teacher, mentor, tutor, or instructional coordinator.
- Strong classroom management and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to motivate, engage, and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
- Comfort with project-based learning and hands-on instructional activities.
- CPR and/or MAT Certified a plus
