Merchant / Product Category Specialist
Entry- to Mid-Level | Independent Contributor
Hybrid Schedule: Up to 2 Days Remote / 3 Days Onsite

At Witmer Public Safety Group, the products we bring to market support firefighters, law enforcement officers, and EMS professionals working in demanding environments. We are looking for a mid-level Merchant / Product Category Specialist who can independently manage product categories, work cross-functionally, and use data to drive smart merchandising decisions.
This is not a people management role. It is an ownership role for someone who wants responsibility for execution, decision-making, and performance within clearly defined scope.
What You Will Do
Execute category strategy
- Develop and execute merchandising strategies aligned with company goals and market demand
- Support multiple sales channels including ecommerce, showroom, print, and sales teams
Manage product assortments
- Curate and maintain product assortments based on sales performance, customer needs, and market trends
- Evaluate product performance and recommend additions, changes, or discontinuations
Own vendor relationships
- Build productive working relationships with vendors and brand partners
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and programs that support margin and product availability
Analyze performance and trends
- Monitor sales, inventory, and category performance
- Use data to inform assortment decisions, promotions, and investment priorities
Collaborate across teams
- Partner with marketing on product launches and promotions
- Support sales teams with product insights and category knowledge
- Coordinate with inventory planning to align demand and supply
Manage financial performance
- Support category-level budgeting and margin objectives
- Ensure disciplined, data-driven decisions
What You Bring
Experience and education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Marketing, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in merchandising, category management, or a related role
- Experience in public safety products is highly preferred but not required
Skills and capabilities
- Strong analytical skills with experience using sales and performance data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite or BlueRidge is a plus
- Vendor negotiation experience
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently

Work Structure and Environment
- Hybrid work schedule with a maximum of two remote days per week
- Three days onsite (Coatesville, PA) each week is required
