Job Description

Withum's Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) team is seeking a Mergers & Acquisitions Tax Lead Consultant to join our growing practice. This professional will play a key role in leading and executing tax due diligence and structuring engagements for private equity and strategic clients across a variety of industries.

You will work directly with clients, target company management teams, and engagement leadership, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to the continued growth of the practice. Our TAS team specializes in helping clients navigate acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations, and other strategic transactions, through high-quality tax analysis and actionable insights.

The Lead Consultant can be based in any of the following US office locations (New York, NY; Whippany, NJ; East Brunswick, NJ; Princeton, NJ; Boston, MA; Philadelphia, PA; Tysons Corner, VA; Columbia, MD; Orlando, FL; Boca Raton, FL; Houston, TX; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Irvine, CA; San Francisco, CA). This is a hybrid position (3 days in office expectation per week).

How You’ll Spend Your Time

• Coordinating tax due diligence and structuring engagements
• Managing multiple work streams at any given time
• Collaborating with client management on diligence focus areas and providing real-time communications of issues and deal considerations
• Working on reports that set out our findings and recommendations around the key tax issues in a transaction
• Identifying integration, separation, and post-transaction transition issues
• Collaborating with other team members and contributing to the ongoing development of M&A best practices
  
  

The Kinds of People We Want to Talk to Have Many of The Following:

• A bachelor's degree, J.D., LL.M. in taxation, and/or master’s in taxation (MST) from an accredited college/university
• 3 years of experience in federal tax and/or mergers and acquisition in a public accounting firm, corporate tax department, or law firm
• Experience gained within another large professional services organization; public accounting experience preferred
• Effective communication skills both internally and externally, promoting active listening and consistently following up on open action items appropriately
• The ability to prioritize effectively on projects and the skills to adapt quickly to new challenges and concepts
• The desire to be a long-term contributor to a dynamic team
• Ability to travel up to 20%, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
• Established networking skills in a relevant industry
  
  

The compensation for this position ranges from $110,000-$140,000. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance. Final offer amounts are based on multiple factors such as the specific role, hiring location, as well as the individual’s skills, experience and qualifications.
