The Critical Care Unit at Witham Hospital is a 16-bed unit primarily focused on step-down & progressive care. Our patient population includes individuals with cardiac issues, catheterization care, atrial fibrillation conversions, respiratory failure, DKA, sepsis, complex post-surgical needs, cerebrovascular accidents, & management of chest tubes. We also care for oncology patients and those on suicide precautions, as well as individuals experiencing alcohol or drug overdoses. While most patients in our unit are in a step-down status, we accommodate critical care patients on ventilators or intravenous drips. Our team consists entirely of RNs with PCTs available during day shifts on weekdays. We maintain a nursing ratio of 1:2-3, ensuring personalized, high-quality care for each patient.
