Lead Research Scientist for BioPharma Start-up
WisperBio, Inc., a recently-formed Biopharma company, is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and entrepreneurial research scientist to join the research and development function of our new biologics company. The position will lead and conduct research efforts at our location at Forward BioLabs, Research Park in Madison, Wisconsin. The R&D will support WisperBio’s efforts on pharmaceutical drug development involving biochemical and molecular analyses, formulation, and detection of biologic activity. Degree and Area of Specialization:
Master’s or PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or related field required.
Experience with general molecular biology methods, tissue culture methods (preferably neuronal tissue cultures), protein analyses methods, and basic lab management skills are required.
Minimum Number of Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
A candidate with a PhD will preferably have at least a year of postdoctoral or industry experience; an MSc candidate will preferably have at least 5 years of relevant experience. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and have competency with general laboratory methods in molecular biology, tissue culture, and, particularly, protein analysis. She or he will have excellent time management, record keeping and communication skills as well as computer literacy and
Microsoft Office proficiency. The candidate must be willing and able to work with pathogens and toxins, including under BSL2 conditions.
Position Summary:
As WisperBio’s first research scientist, the successful candidate will have an important role, charged with establishing the planned research agenda and conducting research and development programs. The candidate will also manage supplies and administrative and regulatory aspects of the lab. In supporting the development of WisperBio’s novel drug products, the candidate will work independently and under the guidance of WisperBio founding scientists.
This position is open for a 75-100% appointment.
Principal Duties:
- Conducts primary research supporting drug development; collects and documents results.
- Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents and results for presentations and/or reporting to internal audience.
- Writes research reports on generated data.
- Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials.
- Acquires required supplies and small equipment.
- Prepares and maintains inventory and safety data sheet folder for all chemicals and biologics used in lab.
- Operates and maintains research equipment and research space.
- Aids in preparation of SOPs
