Wishram School District will have an opening for a Secondary Science Teacher for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. The position will serve middle school & high school students.
Our school is in the town of Wishram, WA located in the heart of the renowned Columbia Gorge on the banks of the beautiful Columbia River. It’s a short distance away from The Dalles, OR and Goldendale, WA. The small town of Wishram is rural and an ideal family/recreational setting. The community is very supportive of the school and its staff.

Salary: $55,346–$104,319 annual base salary (based on a 180-day contract), plus up to 9 additional days available above the base salary. Compensation for this position will be prorated based on the actual start date if employment begins mid-year. Essential Functions/Other Functions
Essential Functions:
- Plan, develop and implement courses of instruction designed to achieve essential learning and exit outcomes.
- Work cooperatively with administration and staff to develop and implement the instructional program.
- Provide an effective instructional environment.
- Maintain appropriate records.
- Teach the approved curriculum.
- Keep parents informed through conferences and/or reports of their students' progress.
- Develop and maintain a flexible, effective classroom learning environment.
- Work with students, staff, and community patrons in an amicable and productive manner.
- Supervise students in the classroom and on the school premises as required.
- Develop students' sense of consideration for others and of responsibility for contributing to the benefit of the school.
- Participate in professional growth opportunities.
- Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned.
- Opportunities in extracurricular activities.
- A valid Washington State teaching certificate.
- Secondary Science endorsement or a valid Washington State teaching certificate with substantial science coursework or academic preparation sufficient to reasonably obtain a Secondary Science endorsement within one (1) year of hire.
- Knowledge of current instructional practices and strategies for effectively teaching and engaging students.
- Ability to apply a variety of instructional methods, including cooperative learning, effective questioning, and concept development.
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive, well-managed classroom learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a school team.
- Knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and ability to integrate the into the classroom.
- Demonstrated ability to use formative, summative, and performance assessment strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to establish individual and subgroup, whole class, and grade-level/content area student growth goals.
- Demonstrated ability to use student growth or achievement data from multiple assessments to show clear evidence of growth for most students.
- Demonstrated ability to use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning.
- Demonstrated willingness to work effectively with students, parents and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and modify instructional programs to meet individual needs.
- Demonstrated successful experience working with middle and high school students.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Prior teaching experience in the area of Science.
- Classroom environment.
- Successful completion of criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
