Business Data Architect

Hiring: Business Data Architect | Westwood, MA & Johnston, RI | Hybrid

We're looking for an experienced Business Data Architect with strong expertise in enterprise data architecture, canonical data modeling, data mesh, Kafka, and AWS to join a high-performing data transformation team.

Location: Westwood, MA & Johnston, RI (Hybrid)

Duration: 6 Months (Long-Term)

Key Responsibilities & Skills:

• Design and enhance enterprise canonical data models, semantic models, and domain-driven data contracts to enable cross-functional data interoperability

• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business capabilities, modernization initiatives, and data mesh principles

• Architect real-time streaming solutions using Kafka, including event modeling, schema management, and streaming data pipelines

• Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, domain architects, and data engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions

• Design and optimize cloud-native data architectures using AWS services including S3, Redshift, Glue, EMR, Lambda, and EC2

• Build and optimize enterprise data pipelines and storage solutions using Snowflake and AWS data services

• Establish and enforce enterprise data governance, metadata management, data quality, and lineage standards

• Develop reusable architecture frameworks, modeling standards, and best practices for enterprise-wide adoption

• Support enterprise AI/ML, analytics, and real-time integration initiatives through scalable and governed data architecture

• Drive continuous improvements in enterprise data architecture, integration strategies, and cloud modernization efforts

Mandatory Skills:

• Strong experience with Canonical Data Modeling and Enterprise Data Architecture

• Expertise in Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Modeling

• Strong understanding of Semantic Data Modeling and Data Mesh Architecture

• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, Event Modeling, and Real-Time Streaming Architectures

• Strong expertise in AWS Data Services (S3, Redshift, Glue, EMR, Lambda, EC2)

• Experience with Snowflake Data Platform

• Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT architecture and Data Integration patterns

• Experience with Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality, and Data Lineage frameworks

• Strong SQL skills and Python programming experience

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills

What We’re Looking For:

A highly skilled Business Data Architect who can lead enterprise data modernization initiatives by designing scalable, governed, and interoperable data architectures. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in canonical data modeling, semantic data mesh, Kafka-based streaming architectures, AWS cloud services, and enterprise data governance while collaborating across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Big Data technologies such as Apache Spark, EMR, Delta Lake, or similar platforms

• Hands-on experience with enterprise data catalog and metadata management tools

• AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, Data Analytics Specialty, or equivalent)

• Experience supporting AI/ML and advanced analytics initiatives

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's preferred)

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum and enterprise cloud transformation environments
