Job Title: QA Analyst – Database & BI Testing

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in the office

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced QA Analyst with strong expertise in database testing, SQL-based data validation, ETL testing, and Business Intelligence (BI) report testing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for validating data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across databases, ETL pipelines, and BusinessObjects reports.

This role requires hands-on experience with SAP BusinessObjects, SQL query development, and data comparison tools such as Beyond Compare to analyze large volumes of data across different formats. The candidate should also possess working knowledge of Linux command-line operations, test automation, and regression testing.

Experience in financial services, capital markets, stock exchanges, or real-time transaction processing systems is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

1. Database Testing and SQL Validation

• Design and execute database test cases to verify data accuracy, integrity, completeness, and consistency.
• Write, execute, and debug SQL queries to validate business rules and reconcile data across source and target databases.
• Perform complex queries involving joins, subqueries, aggregations, and data filtering.
• Identify missing, duplicate, inconsistent, or incorrectly transformed records.
• Investigate data discrepancies and collaborate with development and business teams to resolve defects.
• Work with relational databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL.

2. Business Intelligence and BusinessObjects Testing

• Perform hands-on testing of SAP BusinessObjects reports and Business Intelligence solutions.
• Validate report outputs against underlying database records, SQL query results, and business requirements.
• Verify report calculations, filters, aggregations, data completeness, and accuracy.
• Compare expected and actual report results and identify discrepancies.
• Support report regression testing following application, database, or ETL changes.
• Work with business analysts and technical teams to ensure reports meet functional and data quality requirements.

3. ETL Testing and Data Reconciliation

• Test Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) processes to ensure accurate movement of data between source systems, staging areas, and target databases or data warehouses.
• Validate source-to-target mappings, transformation rules, record counts, and data types.
• Verify data integrity following extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Investigate data mismatches, missing records, duplicate entries, and transformation errors.
• Execute reconciliation checks across multiple datasets and reporting layers.
• Document test results and support defect resolution throughout the ETL testing lifecycle.

4. Large-Volume Data Comparison

• Use Beyond Compare to compare large volumes of data across files, database extracts, reports, and other supported formats.
• Identify differences between expected and actual datasets, including missing records and mismatched values.
• Perform file-level and content-level comparisons to validate system outputs.
• Analyze discrepancies, determine potential root causes, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
• Develop repeatable comparison and validation procedures to improve testing efficiency.

5. Functional Testing and Test Management

• Review business requirements and functional specifications to identify test scenarios and acceptance criteria.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, test data, and test execution documentation.
• Perform end-to-end, functional, integration, system, and regression testing.
• Validate user-interface behavior and real-time transaction-processing workflows where required.
• Log defects, track their resolution, retest fixes, and verify remediation.
• Maintain accurate test execution reports and communicate testing progress, risks, and results.

6. Linux, Scripting, and Test Automation

• Use Linux command-line tools to inspect files, analyze application logs, and support test execution.
• Write or modify basic Python, Shell, or Perl scripts for data validation and repetitive testing tasks.
• Develop and maintain automated regression tests using Selenium WebDriver and other suitable testing tools.
• Support automated execution of test suites and improve repeatability of testing activities.
• Work with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins to support test execution and regression workflows.
• Collaborate with development and automation teams to improve test coverage and efficiency.

7. Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with developers, business analysts, database teams, and other QA professionals.
• Communicate defects, data-quality issues, and test outcomes clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Prioritize testing activities and manage multiple assignments within tight project timelines.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, automation coverage, and data-validation practices.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software quality assurance and testing.
• At least 2 years of experience with automated testing tools.
• Hands-on experience testing SAP BusinessObjects reports is required.
• Strong SQL skills, including writing and debugging queries for data validation and reconciliation.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
• Experience with data validation, database testing, and data-integrity verification.
• Practical experience using Beyond Compare or similar tools to compare large datasets and files.
• Understanding of ETL workflows and source-to-target data validation.
• Thorough working knowledge of the Linux command-line interface.
• Experience with Selenium WebDriver for automated testing.
• Familiarity with database tools such as TOAD.
• Basic knowledge of Python, Shell scripting, or similar scripting languages.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, organize tasks effectively, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing financial services applications, stock exchanges, or regulated financial marketplaces.
• Familiarity with capital markets, equities, fixed income, derivatives, or other financial asset classes.
• Experience with OneTick or similar time-series databases and financial market data platforms.
• Knowledge of real-time transaction-processing and middleware systems.
• Experience with Jenkins or other CI/CD platforms.
• Familiarity with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
• Basic knowledge of Java and automated regression test development.
• Experience with data warehouses, business intelligence solutions, and large-scale data processing.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5 years of software QA/testing experience.
• 2 years of experience with automated testing tools.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a data-focused QA professional who combines strong SQL and database-testing skills with practical SAP BusinessObjects report testing, ETL validation, and large-volume data comparison experience. The candidate should be comfortable investigating complex data discrepancies, working in Linux environments, and supporting both manual and automated regression testing.

Experience in financial market systems and real-time transaction processing will be an additional advantage.
