Job Summary:

The AV (Audio Visual) Tech II position for the Wisconsin Union at UW-Madison is responsible for ensuring AV equipment is available, functioning, set up and maintained for in-person and virtual events. This position interacts with and supports a range of clients including UW-Madison and affiliated organizations as well as non-profit and for-profit entities. Outside of supporting scheduled events, this position performs routine maintenance, repair, and upgrades to the AV and IT equipment used in the support of events.

Work Schedule and Location:

Monday Thru Friday 8 am to 4 pm, with shifting in both hours and days based on events such as Badger Bash.

Primary Location is Union South, 1308 W Dayton Street, Madison WI 53715

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry 50 pounds occasionally needed

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Sets up, installs, upgrades, configures, troubleshoots, adjusts, and connects audio, visual, lighting, computer equipment, and peripherals in various environments for events, academic instruction, or meetings according to established requirements and requests
  • Provides consultation and answers questions regarding AV equipment and functionality to individuals and groups based on set material and standards
  • Tests, maintains, and provides recommendations for alternative hardware and software options to ensure proper functionality, security requirements, and business needs are met

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with operation, troubleshooting, setting up and tearing down of audio visual systems
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
  • Excellent organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in video production
  • Experience in an event-based field
