Wisconsin Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a detail-oriented and service-focused Underwriting Associate to support our underwriting operations. This role works closely with the Director of Underwriting and plays an important part in serving policyholders, processing applications, maintaining policy records, and supporting day-to-day underwriting activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with insurance office or agency experience who is looking to grow in an underwriting support role within a professional and collaborative environment. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with a combination of office and remote work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support underwriting operations by processing new business, renewal, and reissue applications
- Assist with premium quotations, policy issuance, and documentation of binding payments
- Communicate with current and prospective policyholders regarding coverage, applications, billing, and underwriting procedures
- Create, organize, and maintain digital policy files and related records
- Process policy billings, including setup and administration of monthly ACH payment plans
- Answer incoming calls and assist policyholders or route inquiries to the appropriate team member
- Participate in testing system enhancements and supporting improvements to the policyholder portal
- Assist with maintaining underwriting procedures and business continuity documentation
- Attend and support selected marketing or outreach events, as needed
- Maintain or obtain a Wisconsin property and casualty insurance license
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an insurance office, agency, or related insurance setting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, use sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems quickly
Preferred
- Experience supporting underwriting, policy administration, or insurance billing functions
- Wisconsin property and casualty insurance license, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant work experience
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
