The Wisconsin Heights School District is seeking a dedicated and motivated Director of Food Services to lead, manage, and elevate all aspects of our K-12 school nutrition program. In this key leadership role, you will ensure our students receive healthy, high-quality meals that fuel their academic success, while maintaining strict compliance with state and federal regulations.
Core Responsibilities
- Daily Operations: Oversee all food service operations across district schools, ensuring smooth, efficient, and welcoming breakfast and lunch service.
- Menu Planning & Compliance: Design nutritious menus that comply with USDA and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) regulations.
- Financial & Inventory Management: Manage food and supply procurement, vendor relationships, inventory control, budgeting, and required state recordkeeping.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate cafeteria staff to foster a positive, collaborative team environment.
- Safety & Sanitation: Uphold the highest standards of food safety, kitchen sanitation (HACCP), and excellent customer service.
- Catering: Coordinate and execute food services for special school events and district catering needs as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates must meet the Wisconsin DPI Professional Standards for School Nutrition Directors (combining relevant education and food service management experience).
Preferred Assets:
- Proven management experience in school nutrition programs or high-volume institutional food service.
- Current ServSafe Manager Certification.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work comfortably in a commercial kitchen environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.
