Summary:
The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving the Production Schedule to ensure alignment with organizational goals, production capacity, and customer delivery requirements. This role oversees scheduling and production control activities to enable efficient manufacturing operations, optimal resource utilization, and on-time delivery performance.
The Production Scheduler provides daily visibility into manufacturing progress through comprehensive reporting, including work-in-process status, due dates, and incoming demand forecasts. This role partners cross-functionally with operations, sales, and project management teams to ensure realistic schedules and effective execution.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and execute the Production Schedule in alignment with demand forecasts, production capacity, and business objectives.
- Ensure plant work order schedules align with the Production Schedule to maximize operational efficiency and throughput.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all scheduling activities to ensure seamless execution of production plans.
- Create and maintain accurate scheduling models to support strategic and tactical decision-making.
- Maximize production capacity while balancing cost, quality, and delivery commitments.
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts, bottlenecks, and work order discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Monitor scheduling performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish and track KPIs, including accurate project start times and schedule adherence.
- Maintain and optimize scheduling and MRP systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Develop and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production status, work-in-process, and forecasted demand.
- Ensure availability of necessary manufacturing resources through proactive planning and reporting.
- Develop, document, and refine scheduling procedures, work instructions, and training programs.
- Ensure scheduling processes comply with quality standards, safety requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Evaluate and implement improved scheduling techniques, tools, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field required.
- APICS certification (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent preferred.
- Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, and manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems and production scheduling tools.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead, train, and influence cross-functional teams.
