General Responsibilities: The Director of Compliance and Operations is responsible for managing the Wisconsin Beef Checkoff collections and compliance program, overseeing daily office activities and performing related administrative duties to support the mission of the Wisconsin Beef Council – to grow demand for beef. In addition, the position provides administrative and project assistance for the Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association. This candidate will also work alongside the Executive Director to select additional program areas to support, which could include producer and industry communications, health and nutrition outreach, or other programs. The Wisconsin Beef Council office is located in Verona, Wisc. Hybrid in-office/work from home arrangements may be considered upon successful completion of a 3-month probationary period.

Key Responsibilities:
Checkoff Collections and Compliance
- Maintain and administer the checkoff compliance program for the state of Wisconsin, coordinated with the Cattlemen’s Beef Board
- Communicate with producers, livestock dealers, auction markets, packers, auctioneers, and other Qualified State Beef Council’s to facilitate their cooperation and full compliance with the Beef Checkoff Program
- Enter monthly checkoff deposits into the BARN/Acumatica software
- Produce, review and verify collection reports to allow for timely reporting and payments to Cattlemen’s Beef Board and other Qualified State Beef Council’s
Office Administration
- Manage daily office duties, including, but not limited to mail processing, answering phones, file management, general WBC e-mail response
- Manage and order Council inventory, including promotional and office supplies
- Oversee office equipment, including service contracts, leases and maintenance
- Process information and materials requests
- Provide accountant with month-end reports for inclusion in financials, and assist with annual financial audit
- Responsible for scheduling board and committee meeting locations and related services
- Assist with Beef Quality Assurance program management, including certification meetings and distribution of certificates
Program Oversight
- Additional program duties will be assigned based on the candidate's interest, which could include producer and industry communications or health and nutrition outreach, as agreed upon by the candidate and the Executive Director
Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association administrative duties
- Provide assistance and leadership as the lead liaison for WCA including organization of membership events, communications and other responsibilities as requested by WCA Executive Committee members.
- Answer WCA phone and general e-mail and provide timely response or action
- Coordinate annual membership renewal mailing and sponsorship requests; maintain respective databases
- Enter payments and issue checks in financial software and complete other accounting tasks as requested by WCA treasurer
- Maintain records, files and materials inventory
Additional duties: This role will also perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Executive Director for the development and implementation of WBC programs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION – Post-secondary degree or equivalent relevant experience.
EXPERIENCE –Executive assistant, office management, or accounting experience preferred.
SKILLS – Organizational skills and excellent oral and written communications skills are essential. Must be detail and customer service orientated, able to prioritize tasks and balance multiple priorities to meet deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Understanding of accounting concepts is helpful. Knowledge of the livestock and/or beef industry is preferred.
TRAVEL - Occasional overnight travel is required, including some out-of-state workshops and programs
