What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool and Die Maker position at Wisco Industries?
Tool and Die Maker builds and repairs all types, sizes and shapes of jigs, fixtures, tools and dies such as; piercing, forming, and progressive dies. Assembles and tests complex tools and dies on manufacturing equipment. Trouble shoots problems in the production area.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Must be knowledgeable of tool room equipment and operational procedures.
2. Tool maker is required to work from own initiative and skill to meet tool room and company objectives.
3. Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools considering types of material tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool feeds and speeds.
4. Heat treats die components, uses precision measuring and gauging tools before, during and after machining parts.
5. Perform other duties as assigned by the lead person or supervisor.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
1. Completion of formal apprenticeship and/or appropriate experience in tool and die trade.
2. Must be a self-starter and possess a high degree of precision.
3. Able to read and interpret blueprints and use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, dial calipers, scales, height gauges, tape measures and related equipment.
4. Job requires individual to have strong communication and training skills.
5. Must have a solid background in basic math and computer skills.
Pay: From $27.75 per hour
