Job Summary
Wireless Construction, Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Fleet/Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Standish, Maine. This position is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and experience working on diesel-powered equipment, trucks, trailers, and construction machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles, trailers, and heavy equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and HVAC system issues.
- Repair and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, suspension systems, air brake systems, and hydraulic components.
- Conduct tire service, brake repairs, and equipment inspections.
- Utilize diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to complete repairs.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.
- Fabricate or modify parts and components as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a mechanic, fleet technician, diesel technician, or heavy equipment mechanic required.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and heavy equipment repair.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and service manuals.
- Experience with OEM parts and maintenance procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to safely lift and move heavy equipment and components.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL and/or industry certifications are a plus.
Preferred Experience
- 1-2 years of mechanical experience preferred.
- Experience working on construction equipment, commercial trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other fleet vehicles.
