Design Project Manager — Custom Lighting

Location: Remote

Employment type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for a Design Project Manager to lead custom lighting projects for luxury hotels, high-end restaurants, and other exceptional spaces around the world.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in architecture, interior design, lighting, product design, or a related creative field who has discovered that they enjoy managing the design process more than being the person producing every design themselves.

You understand what makes a design successful. You have strong visual judgment, an eye for proportion and materials, and the ability to protect the original design intent. At the same time, you are highly organized, comfortable managing details and deadlines, and confident communicating directly with clients.

You will serve as the link between our clients, design teams, technical teams, vendors, and manufacturing partners—guiding each project from initial concept through approvals, production, and delivery.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage custom lighting projects from design development through production and delivery
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, architects, interior designers, and other project stakeholders
  • Translate creative concepts and client expectations into clear project requirements
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, priorities, approval milestones, and action lists
  • Coordinate drawings, specifications, finishes, materials, samples, and technical submissions
  • Review project information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with the design intent
  • Lead client meetings and communicate progress, decisions, risks, and next steps clearly
  • Coordinate with internal designers, engineers, manufacturers, suppliers, and logistics partners
  • Track client feedback and ensure that revisions and approvals are properly documented
  • Anticipate potential problems and resolve them before they affect quality, budget, or schedule
  • Help ensure that every finished product meets the aesthetic and quality standards expected in luxury hospitality environments
  • Keep multiple projects moving forward without allowing important details to get lost
Who You Are
  • You have a professional background in architecture, interior design, lighting design, product design, industrial design, or a related field
  • You understand design deeply but are more energized by organizing, coordinating, and leading the process
  • You have excellent visual judgment and a refined sense of proportion, material, color, and finish
  • You are exceptionally organized and comfortable managing many details across multiple projects
  • You communicate clearly, professionally, and confidently with clients
  • You are comfortable leading meetings, presenting information, and navigating difficult conversations
  • You take ownership of projects and follow through without needing constant direction
  • You can balance aesthetic goals with technical, budget, production, and schedule requirements
  • You are proactive, calm under pressure, and skilled at solving problems
  • You have strong written and spoken English
  • You are comfortable working with clients and project teams across different countries and time zones
Helpful Experience

Experience in any of the following would be especially valuable:

  • Luxury hospitality, including hotels and restaurants
  • Custom lighting, furniture, millwork, metalwork, or decorative products
  • Architectural specifications and construction documents
  • Shop drawings, submittals, samples, and approval processes
  • Custom manufacturing or fabrication
  • Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design software
  • Project-management and collaboration tools

You do not need to be the strongest technical designer in the room. What matters is that you understand design, recognize quality, communicate effectively, and know how to guide a complex creative project from an idea to a beautifully executed finished product.
