Position Title: Junior Custodian
Job Description:
Works under the general supervision of the School Operations Manager or Senior Building Custodian.
Paid per current union contract.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all buildings areas are kept clean and in proper working order. Clean individual classrooms and hallways including vacuuming when needed, sweep, mop and disinfect.
- Performs proper maintenance of school buildings and facilities and proper grounds maintenance.
- Address staff and student needs and issues as they arise.
- Keep current with school security policies and procedures.
- Follow maintenance/custodial checklist for daily duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Maintains school buildings, inside and outside; cleans and disinfects rooms, washrooms and toilets; vacuums and cleans rugs; washes woodwork and windows; cleans and disinfects floors; strips and waxes floors; empties trash; dusts, mops, replaces light bulbs, and performs related cleaning functions.
- Occasionally might monitor heating boilers and other systems, such as cooling systems, controls temperature. Monitors all power equipment; opens building; responds to requests from school principals, administration and teachers, moves furniture and delivers supplies.
- Provides preventive and general maintenance of the structures and grounds of school facilities
- Maintains grounds surrounding buildings by picking up and disposes of litter; removes snow and ice and clears walkways.
- Work occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 lbs. or more (i.e. furniture, ladders, etc.)
- Performs similar or related work as required, or as situation dictates.
Salary : $40,000 - $43,000
